Yes, Now Is a Great Time to Focus on Your Wellbeing | Be Your Own Brand of Sexy
One of the holiest times of the year is underway, as millions of Christians, Jews, and Muslims are preparing to celebrate Easter, Passover, and Ramadan this month. But because of the COVID-19 pandemic, there will no doubt be a rather unusual time for worship, since people cannot leave their homes to celebrate together.
But guess what? Even these old traditions are adapting, and people plan on joining the celebration virtually. These holidays are historically great symbols of renewal and hope. Even if you’re not part of any of these religions, that’s a message everyone needs these days. Everyone is hoping and praying for the doctors, scientists, and lawmakers to come together and find ways to keep everyone safe and healthy, end this pandemic once and for all, and allow everyone to resume their lives.
It’s also the perfect time to consider your own life and what you can do now to make sure you have the hope, faith, and strength to renew yourself.
Why Paying Attention to Yourself Now Is Crucial
Your first instincts will say otherwise, but now, in a time of crisis, it’s essential to stop and take care of yourself. You mustn’t forget the importance of staying connected to other people. Some may be going through a difficult time, and need your support. But your friends and family can be there for you too, helping you get through this even though you don’t even realize you need their help.
It’s really easy to feel lonely and isolated these days, especially if you’re sheltering in place all alone. Countless other people are feeling the same way and can relate to what you’re experiencing. Loneliness can be very painful, and it’s easy to spiral down from it, but you can also take these feelings and leverage them to help you make the changes in your life you’ve always wanted or needed. Even when it comes to those changes needed to find yourself the love of your life.
And make no mistake, you’ll feel conflicted at just the thought of it. You’ll think “how can I possibly think about myself when so many people worldwide are suffering, some even dying?”
You’ll think this is selfish like the whole world is burning at the moment and you are now taking this journey to self-discovery. Well, it’s not selfish at all — it’s essential. There is nothing wrong with taking care of you right now when the world is in crisis. You, your needs, your fears, they don’t take a break because of the pandemic. They linger still, and with the added stress of the outside world, it becomes a lot easier to get drowned in these negative thoughts.
If you don’t take care of yourself right now, who will? A healthcare worker must wear a mask and other protective gear in order to protect themselves from the virus. They do it because they must be healthy enough to keep saving lives and make sure they don’t spread the virus to other people. Of course, they see other people may need that protective gear but in the long run, they realize they must keep themselves safe to help others.
And this example applies to you as well. You must focus on your well being in these testing times, especially if you have to take care of others down the line, like an older parent, or maybe even a future child.
And if you want a loving partner, a soulmate, don’t try to push down this desire. It won’t go away. Thinking about it and, even more, planning for it is a great way for you to renew yourself, and keep hope and faith alive. You need to stay positive during isolation, and hopeful, even in a time where all you seem to be hearing is bad news.
This pandemic will pass, sooner or later, and you will have a life to live after it. Taking care of yourself and your future is a good way to cope with the stress of the present, so don’t deny yourself the desire to plan for your love life.
Taking Action Now
You are not selfish because you cater to your needs during this pandemic. You are living your life still, even in trying conditions.
