The movie Guardians of the Galaxy has an important lesson for women about how to protect your heart with men and why you should do it. It may seem strange to you that five years after this movie was released, I’m writing an article about it. But there’s a very good reason why I haven’t seen the film for five years since its release: I avoid violent movies like the plague.

I’m concerned that the gratuitous violence in them may be contributing to the terrible shootings that have become increasingly common in our society. But sometimes you have to see movies, despite your reluctance. Even the ones we wouldn’t usually enjoy all have lessons in them that can teach us and help us grow in wisdom and understanding. Despite the violence, there is a lesson in Guardians of the Galaxy that might help your dating life — the lesson on protecting your heart.

The primary romantic couple in Guardians of the Galaxy is Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord, who is an intergalactic outlaw, and Gamora. Gamora is a deadly assassin sent to steal the Power Stone from Peter Quill, culminating in a violent exchange. But after things calm down, they finally get some private time together.
