I say no.
But recent research has shown that if you wait too long, it might increase your chance of divorce. Before around age 32, each year that you wait to marry lowers your chance of divorce by 11%. After 32, each passing year increases the chance of divorce by 5%.
Does this mean that you have to marry in your 20’s or early 30’s to have a good marriage? No! Please don’t misinterpret this research. It worries me when I see people taking research like this as truth and getting discouraged or giving up.
Even this researcher says that the people who marry after age 32 may simply be people who have more trouble with relationships than the ones who marry before 32. In my 30 years of practice as a psychiatrist, I’ve seen many happily married people who married after age 32. They improved their chances of having a good relationship by working on themselves. The best thing you can do to find-and keep-love is to be your own Brand of Sexy. Being your own Brand of Sexy means figuring out what you want, what works for you as an individual, and what strategies will help you achieve your relationship goals, whatever they may be.
